9 Breathtaking Film Critiques For Your Entertainment Enjoyment

By Marianne Hart

Right here are a few of the best movies of all time. Select one to watch now! In Enemy Country - So-so designer of WW2 enthrall, set in France and England, filmed on a back-lot. Not tremendously persuading. Cast includes Tony Franciosa, Anjanette Comer, Guy Stockwell, Paul Hubschmid, Tom Bell, and Emile Genest. (107 minutes, 1968)

Barnyard - Excited madness set on a farm where, after sundown, the animals turn the barn into a noisy nightclub. James is Otis, a adolescent cow who is very grown-up, much to the disappointment of his dad, Ben Elliott, who keeps watch for predatory coyotes when the others party. Dom Irrera stands out as Duke the Dog. Cast includes Courtney Cox, Sam Elliott, Danny Glover, Wanda Sykes, Andie MacDowell, David Koechner, and Laraine Newman. (90 minutes, 2006)

Only You - Nice confection in reference to a youthful female who invests her entire life looking for her perfect mate whose name was summoned up on a Ouija board. Cast includes Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey, Jr., Bonnie Seek, Joaquim De Almeida, Fisher Stevens, and Phyllis Newman. (108 minutes, 1994)

Straight Time - Hoffman knocks heads with greasy parole officer Walsh following his discharge from prison and begins a downhill skid. An immersing if not particularly differentiated melodrama that gets a genuine shot in the arm from remarkable acting by the supporting cast. Cast includes Dustin Hoffman, Theresa Russell, Harry Dean Stanton, Gary Busey, Emmet Walsh, and Rita Taggart. (114 minutes, 1978)

The Bourne Ultimatum - In the third film of the succession, Jason Bourne is still being sought after by those who had trained him into the ultimate assassin that he is. Having lost his memory when almost being killed, Bourne is retracing his past to try to understand who he was, and why everyone wants him dead. All his skills are put to the test, as the C.I.A. is unremitting in its effort to have him eliminated. Starring Matt Damon and Julia Stiles.

Mysterious Lady - An Austrian armed forces officer (Nagel) falls in love with Garbo, naive that she is a Russian agent. Another unnatural plot made serviceable by Garbo herself. Cast includes Greta Garbo, Conrad Nagel, Gustav von Seyffertitz, Albert Pollet, and Edward Connelly. (96 minutes, 1928)

The Ploughman's Lunch - Complicated, cynical condemnation of British behaviors, ethics and affairs of state, focusing on the maneuvers of absolutely egotistical journalist (Pryce) and others throughout the Falklands battle. The film is fairly perceptive, within the restraints of its outlook. Cast includes Jonathan Pryce, Tim Curry, Rosemary Harris, Blunt Finlay, and Charlie Dore. (100 minutes, 1983)

Mrs. Dalloway - Redgrave is bright as the wife of a British M.P., who on the night of a gathering, thinks back to her early life when she selected between a safe, secure life and a more challenging presence with a gentleman who really loved her. McElhone is a extraordinary match for Redgrave in the flashback scenes. Cast includes Vanessa Redgrave, Natascha McElhone, Rupert Graves, Michael Kitcben, Alan Cox, Lena Headey, Amelia Bulhnore, Sarah Badel, Oliver Ford Davies, Katie Carr, John Sitting, Robert Hardy, Margaret Tyzack, and Phyllis Calvert. (97 minutes, 1998)

Aladdin - Disney's animated Arabian Days tale is refined through the feeling of an old Warner Bros. animation, as Aladdin brings up a Genie who's overflowing with chatter. Williams' amusing fast fire shtick forms the attraction of this alternatively conventional tale, colorfully (and tunefully) shown. Cast includes Voices of Scott Weinger, Robin Williams, Linda Larkin, Jonathan Freeman, Frank Welker, Gilbert Gottfried, Douglas Seale and the harmonizing voices of Brad Kand and Lea Salonga. (90 minutes, 1992)
